Ethical

My brand places great emphasis on being conscious. That means supporting our people & our planet.

Charity

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said 'Verily the believers are like a structure, each one strengthening the other' [Bukhari].

I donate 10% of all profits to Ummah Welfare Trust. They have a 100% donations policy, which means every single penny donated is used strictly for charitable efforts. Donations go into a ‘charity-only’ bank account from which nothing is removed for fundraising or administration costs.

I specifically support their 'Most Needy' project - which enables the Charity to support the communities in require of the most support at any given time. This also allows Ummah Welfare Trust to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.

Environment

The Prophet () said 'The world is beautiful and verdant, and verily God, the exalted, has made you His stewards in it, and He sees how you acquit yourselves'. (Saheeh Muslim).

Sustainability can often be overlooked in our communities, and as the owner of an Islamic-oriented brand, I hold a responsibility to set a good example. Here's how I do that:

Eco Soy Wax

Mainstream (including often expensive) candles are usually made of paraffin wax, a by-product of petroleum, which has a potential to release dangerous chemicals.

As a better alternative, I use a specific type of soy wax which is sustainable, biodegradable, vegan friendly and made in the UK. Soy wax also burns slower and cleaner than paraffin wax, as well as being an excellent carrier of fragrance - leading to a strong hot and cold scent throw!

High quality, Vegan & Cruelty Free

I invest in high quality fragrances that are clean burning, vegan friendly & cruelty free. None of my candles contain paraben or silicone.

I use high quality wicks and glue dots that form the core of my candles - these ensure great hot throw and adhesion, whilst not harming the environment or animals.

Reuse & Repurpose

As a small business owner, I'm constantly thinking of ways I can re-use existing materials I have and producing minimal waste.

My packing peanuts are biodegradable (or I reuse them from packages I receive in the post) - this reduces waste and gives these materials a second opportunity to do their job.

I also encourage you to repurpose your candle jars, the reminders on them have been created for long-term use - and I would love for you to keep them in your homes for a long time! For example you can use them to hold special items, grow plants in them, or keep them as sentimental pieces.

The Quran says, “…waste not by excess, for Allah loves not the wasters (Quran 7:31).
